In order to attain a large degree of self mastery, you need to have a healthy strong brain in order to make those small positive choices on a daily basis that add up to where you want to go.
I 150% believe that physical fitness and maintaining your health is one of the biggest factors to get the most out of your brain power. A high level of brain power leads to, potentially, a much higher level of self mastery.
I say “potentially” because fitness alone is not going to automatically have you making perfect choices all of the sudden. However, maintaining a healthy body will give you that slight edge in order to start making those good daily choices for success.
Dr. Majid Fotuhi, author of The Memory Cure, states “As the belly expands, the brain shrinks.”
Self mastery is all about demonstrating a high level of self discipline. Do you eat the candy bar and enjoy a few seconds of pleasure? Or do you make the decision to put in 45mins at the gym in order to have real, long lasting POSITIVE change?
As they say (when you eat junk) “A moment on the lips, forever on the hips!”
I’m not saying that you cant enjoy sweets or junk food once in a while, its actual good for your body to recognize “junk” food.
What I AM saying is that you need to control those urges to eat that candy bar, fried food, excessive beer, etc, in order to control other areas in your life. Saying NO to certain foods (yes to healthy food) or making yourself go to the gym will give you more will power to do something positive that you wouldn’t normally have the energy or motivation to do!
For me personally, I workout and eat healthy regularly but many times I find myself slipping often! We are human and that will happen from time to time. Something I have done recently is embark on a 90 fitness challenge put on by my good friends over at FitnessRich.com. I believe that finding any way to hold yourself accountable and associate with the right people is a great way to follow through on your goals! So, find a way to hold yourself accountable and make the decision to follow the path of physical and mental fitness right now!
Below is a quick Instagram video I did as a kick off to my 90 day challenge.
