Why willpower (aka: self discipline)?
It may seem pretty obvious for most of us that willpower is key for success, but why don’t more of us do it? Demonstrating willpower/self discipline is very easy to do, BUT it is also very easy NOT to do!
Putting on your gym cloths and going to the gym for a few minutes isn’t rocket since and you arnt going to die if you do it, however, for many of us its 10x easier to just, not do it. Its not that you couldn’t do it, most just WONT.
Just imagine all of the things you COULD do with your life, the question you have to ask yourself is WILL you do those things that are demanded for success.
Building up your willpower takes some time, like building muscle, especially if you have been going in the opposite direction for some time now.
Increase Your Willpower
In order to increase your willpower, start small. You don’t need to do anything drastic to start demonstrating willpower. In fact, if you do something too extreme that can be bad because you may get too overwhelmed or burned out to want to develop this skill for the long term.
Instead, start off by doing micro steps. For example, next time you’re at the gas station say hi to some one, or, at lunch time refuse to eat that extra cookie in the cabinet. Being able to make a conscious decision that will positively effect your life is extremely powerful. Every time you exude willpower, it breeds even MORE willpower, so on and so on.
