The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind – Conscious vs Subconscious Mind

I’m no psychologist but after reading Vince Poscente’s book, ‘The Ant and The Elephant’, It has really opened my mind to the TRUE power of your brain and opens the doors to to the “secret” of real success. If you train your subconscious mind, it will carry you, PHYSICALLY.

No, I don’t mean your brain is going to pop out your head, grow arms and carry your across the finish line. Steve Jobs says it best…

“If you are working on something exciting that

you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed.

The vision pulls you.” – Steve Jobs

Vince is a world renowned speaker, business consultant, record-setting speed skier and Olympian. If he believes in the vast potential of the subconscious mind, I think he is worth listening to!

In his book ‘The Ant and The Elephant’, Poscente  refers the conscious mind to an ant, and subconscious mind to an elephant  (I think we know who would win that battle!). He believes our minds are separated into two very different functions – the conscious and subconscious elements. Our ant is the intentional part of the brain (stuff we are aware we are thinking of), but our elephant is the instinctual, impulsive part of the brain that houses emotions, memories, feelings and even controls your body’s vital functions such as walking, your heart beat, breathing, etc. Most of us know our conscious minds (our ants) but we often overlook our subconscious (our elephant) part of our brains. When we overlook our subconscious (elephant) parts of the brain, we loose out on about 98%, or more, of the potential of our brains and our success!
